Nomads Connect: The Event Bringing Together the València Nomads Hub Community
The València Nomads Hub project, an initiative of València Innovation Capital by the Valencia City Council, managed by Pleyad and My Tech Plan, held the first edition of Nomads Connect — an event designed to facilitate the integration of international talent into Valencia’s innovation ecosystem.
The gathering brought together nearly a hundred attendees from various countries, featuring two panel discussions and an institutional address, all centered around a shared challenge: how to make Valencia not just an attractive destination for global talent, but a place where that talent puts down roots.
Ecosystem as Competitive Advantage

The first panel featured Lodewijk Cuypers (Globexs), Francesc de Paula Pons García (The Terminal Hub), and Vladislav Busko (Startup Valencia), moderated by Oscar David Sánchez (Pleyad). The panelists agreed that Valencia’s appeal — climate, quality of life, competitive costs — is a necessary but insufficient condition. What truly makes the difference, they noted, is the local ecosystem’s ability to activate meaningful connections from the moment a professional arrives in the city.
From Newcomer to Active Community Member

The second panel, moderated by Anna Lino (My Tech Plan), brought together Maya Middlemiss (Remote Work Europe) and Artem Garnyshev (How2Spanish), who addressed the real barriers digital nomads face when trying to transition from visitors to active community members. Language, local networks, and access to opportunities were the central themes of a conversation focused on practical solutions.
Active Audience Participation

The open format of the event encouraged active participation from attendees, who shared questions and personal experiences about the challenges of integrating into a new city as international professionals.
Institutional Support

The closing address was delivered by Paula Llobet Vilarrasa, Councillor for Tourism, Innovation and Investment Attraction of the València City Council, who reaffirmed the council’s commitment to integrating nomadic talent. Llobet emphasized that the municipal strategy aims to ensure international professionals are not just passing through, but become active contributors to the innovation ecosystem and the city’s long-term development.
